Funeral Home Therapy Dogs

Learn About Funeral Home Therapy Dogs

Benefits of adding an emotional support therapy dog to your business…..

Hear from other business owners of emotional support therapy dogs:

Owner Fiorillo speaks about his therapy dog Lulu, “When mourners come to the stately funeral home to make arrangements, Fiorillo asks if they'd like to meet Lulu and tells them she's available — no extra charge — for any wake or funeral. Almost all have accepted.”

Whenever a dog joins a group of mourners, "the atmosphere changes," said Mark Krause, owner and president of Krause Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Milwaukee. "In a funeral home, people are typically on edge, uncomfortable. But everyone lights up, everyone has to greet the dog."

Increases reputation in community when people know the dog is available. We recommend each dog has their own business card and "send" thank-you notes to children the dog has befriended. This will GREATLY improve people’s experience at your establishment.

It brings in business when clients know you have the dog. We recommend having a professional video made of your dog, so you can advertise on your website that your dog is available upon request at your facility.

It is the new industry trend. You need to keep up with the market and be competitive with your opponents.

We work with funeral homes across the nation. Canine Composure will work with ANY funeral home located in the United States. There is no extra charge for delivery of your dog to your new facility.

Before you acquire your dog, your dog must obtain the AKC therapy dog title. This means that your dog will have a minimum of 50 visits at nursing homes, hospitals, elementary school etc. This ensures that you are receiving a dog with a VERY sound temperament, and one that will have the appropriate behavior to be a therapy dog.

We are the ONLY company that picks dogs specifically for your location. Other businesses have already trained dogs to purchase. We like to hand select each dog for each business as each business has different necessities.

About your dog…

We will hand select a dog that is right for you and your business.

Your dog will come with papers and be an AKC registered dog.

We recommend selecting either a poodle (any size) or a Portuguese water dog as these dogs are hypoallergenic, excel at training, have longevity, possess the necessary temperaments for therapy work, and have good health. Although we recommend choosing one of these two breeds, we are also able to train a specific breed that you choose.

The dogs will be under or near the age of two, to ensure that you get a dog that has matured and is ready for the work, but also is young enough to give you many years of service.

The training time will be between 10-12 weeks. (This time may vary depending on your dog).

You dog will earn the CCG title (Canine Good Citizen) through the AKC. (American Kennel Club)

Your dog will be a registered therapy dog with AKC. (A minimum of 50 visits to facilities)

Your dog will earn the TDI (Therapy Dog International) title.

You will receive pictures and videos of your dog’s training progress. Many facilities enjoy displaying their dogs winning and ribbons in the facility.  It’s also a great way to advertise the new addition to your facility by posting videos and pictures of your dogs progress.

Your dog will come with a six month health guarantee

Your dog will come with 6 months of flea and heartworm medication.

Your dog will have a vest that shows your dog is a therapy dog with his name embroidered on it, leash, collar and a bag of dog food.

Your dog will be delivered to your facility anywhere in the United States.

Due to the time commitment and our comprehensive training, we only train a number of these dogs annually. If you are interested please contact us at: CanineComposure@gmail.com
