Our Training Philosophy

Our methods of dog training are motivational and engagement centered. We use food, toys and praise to reward our dogs for wanted behaviors. Marker training allows the dog to actually learn the command. Once the command is learned in a distraction free environment we can start to add distractions to strengthen and make the command useful in all settings. Dogs are pack animals, something a lot of novice and inexperienced trainers do not understand. Dogs seek a hierarchy within their family pack. When the owner does not assume the top ranking positing the dog will, and this is how dominant dogs are created. Over 75% of dogs behavioral problems stem from inadequate leadership from their owner. All of the plush dog beds, cute sweaters, matching collars and leashes and great treats won’t make your dog respect you. Your respect with your dog is gained through hard work, consistent training and experience. Genetically our dogs are hardwired to follow pack leaders who show them fairness and consistency. The majority of dogs WANT TO FOLLOW. Dogs learn through repetition and by training multiple times a week your dog will quickly pick up new behaviors. Understanding the difference between good and expected behavior is also key. Many owners have dogs that disrespect them and behave inappropriately. Our training goal is to have your dog respect you as the leader and behave the way he is expected to behave. We want our dogs to live as harmoniously as possible with us. Our dogs should bring us joy and happiness not frustration and anger. With our training methods we can make your dog the perfect member of your family.
